Finding Gloves that Fit

When one hand does not match the other, finding gloves that fit can be a real challenge.

Even if you have all 5 digits on the effected hand, you may need two different glove sizes…who wants to buy 2 pairs of gloves?

But more likely the two hands are far from symmetrical.

My right hand is more like a claw than a hand.  I have a thumb and a pinkie finger, but thanks to surgery many years ago to maximize my ability to use my hand, my pinkie finger has an odd shape.  The three middle digits were removed as part of that surgery as they were not expected to grow and would only have decreased mobility.

So when I put on a pair of winter gloves I have three entire finger slots that are unused and the two that are used only fill about 1/2 of the space.  Rather inefficient and sometimes annoying depending on the type of glove.

Enter Mitts That Fit.

Mitts That Fit is run by Michelle Strehl who, at the age of 4, lost the use of her right index and pointer fingers due to an accident. In 2013 after she had knit a custom pair of gloves for herself, her uncle suggested that if she could use custom gloves others probably could too — thus Mitts That Fit was born.

So if you are in need of a pair of custom made gloves for you or a loved one, head on over the Mitts That Fit and see what Michelle can cook up for you!

Special offer for a limited time!

I just spoke with Michelle.  She currently only has KNIT gloves available but is experimenting with sewing.  She is willing to provide a FREE pair of gloves to a limited number of people who are tolerant of the learning curve as she practices and masters this new skill.

If you are interested in receiving a FREE pair of gloves, contact me today — before the offer is up!
